Product Description: A highly unusual Grotto table, the rounded 'D' shaped flame mahogany and rosewood crossbanded top above a gilt metal cast base of a giant clam shell supported by coral legs issuing from a starfish. Inspired by Renaissance shell decorated Grottos.

Collection Features: Tables and stools such as this have been produced since the Renaissance but were championed during the 19th century by firms such as Pauly and Cie of Venice in the latter part of the 19th century.
